Brookdale Senior Living Q3 2026 Occupancy Rises to 83.1%
Brookdale Senior Living reported September 2026 occupancy data, with consolidated occupancy climbing 130 basis points year-over-year to 83.1%.
Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) disclosed its September 2026 occupancy figures Thursday, showing continued momentum in the company's efforts to fill beds across its senior living portfolio. Weighted average consolidated occupancy reached 83.1% for the third quarter of 2026, marking a 130-basis-point improvement compared with the same period a year earlier.
The Brentwood, Tennessee-based operator, one of the largest senior living companies in the United States, has been working to recover occupancy levels that were significantly disrupted during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. A gain of 130 basis points on a year-over-year basis signals that demand for senior housing continues to build as the aging U.S. population drives need for assisted living and memory care units.

Occupancy rates are a closely watched metric in the senior living industry because they directly influence revenue and cash flow. For Brookdale specifically, incremental gains in occupancy translate into meaningful financial improvement given the company's large footprint of communities across the country.
Analysts tracking the senior housing sector have noted that operators broadly have benefited from favorable demographic trends and constrained new supply, factors that could continue to support occupancy growth through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. Brookdale's third-quarter data adds to evidence that the recovery in senior living demand remains intact.
